Prayer Need
Becky and I have just returned from Europe where we gathered with Arab brothers and sisters who have all paid a price for their decision to leave Islam and follow Jesus.
We were humbled to be amidst bold believers with unimaginable testimonies of persecution, and also accounts of miraculous acts of God. We were there to meet with Arab Christian leaders representing the growing underground church across the Middle East.
They have invited me to help build a bridge from the West to their network of Christian leaders. Please pray for fruitful results from this summit of Christians from Muslim backgrounds whom God is using to take His light to the Middle East.

Paying the Price in a Hostile Country
What does it cost you to open your home to a Christian gathering? How dangerous is it for you to own a Bible? What do you risk by distributing Christian literature?
For an acquaintance in the Middle East, a Christian from a Muslim background, the cost has been high. The phone rang late last month, with "Ted," our close friend and Middle East
ministry colleague, requesting urgent prayer. "Eric, you remember 'Ali'? He and his wife have just been arrested."
Eric did remember Ali. He had helped train Ali a few years ago when Ali, like other "underground" Christian leaders from a Muslim background, attended a church planting training RUN conducted clandestinely in Europe.
Trained to be an engineer, Ali lost the privilege of working in his field once his Christian faith became known. Despite the injustice, he and his wife were bold believers, leading a house church in their home. This is a daring act in their country where Muslim conversion to Christianity is not tolerated.
In late September Ali and his wife, Fatimah, were arrested because of their Christian activities. Their home was searched and possessions confiscated, including their computers and Christian literature. Before the police took them away, Ali was able to call his mother to come get their young child. After several weeks with many people praying, they have been released. Our colleague was able to contact Fatimah, who told him, "it's not over yet." Though released, their movements are severely restricted. They are forbidden to hold meetings in their home or leave town. Almost everything they own has been confiscated. The official inquiry seems to have been aimed at the Christian meetings in their home and not an investigation into their foreign connections (overseas believers with whom they interact for training, etc.).
Fatimah told Ted that they had not been physically harmed, but that the emotional and psychological trauma inflicted on them was crushing. She told Ted that Ali and she found it very difficult to physically summon the strength even to stand. As far as they can determine, they will not be able to continue any of their work for the foreseeable future. The overwhelming pressure and scrutiny seems certain to persist - severely limiting the work they would be in any position to do. Their faith and commitment remain strong, but the arrest and imprisonment have severely weakened them physically and emotionally.
Please continue to pray for them and for the many Christians from Muslim backgrounds who pay a high price for their faith in Jesus.

Entrusting to Faithful Men
Our hearts were stirred recently by news from our Singaporean colleague, Ronnie. He is continuing RUN's work in India training Christian leaders in church planting.
While we have been focused on developing ministry inroads in the Arab world and facilitating micro business in SE Asia this month, Ronnie has been a world away teaching faithful men (2 Timothy 2:2) using RUN's translated resources. We were excited to hear about the fruit of his labor on behalf of those who have never heard the gospel. He sent us the following report:
"God made a special appointment to show up at the retreat center where over 60 cross-cultural church planters had gathered to align their hearts with the Father's heart for the lost in their region of the world called the 20/30 Window, encompassing Pakistan, north India, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. And, He used Eric's "Igniting a Spiritual Movement" to do just that. Many church planters expressed how they could use the simple concepts found in Eric's book to disciple new believers, start quickly reproducing communities of faith, and develop leaders with a passion for God and the lost."
He stated that local pastors have been aided by RUN's training materials and are excited to see the possibilities for growing His Kingdom. Ronnie continued:
"This is a great strategy that works because many from the villages have come to the Lord. As you wrote in your book - the church spreads globally from family to family. If [pastors] could train the converts from the villages to implement 5,6,7, (steps in RUN's training book, Igniting a Spiritual Movement) [they] would be raising a larger harvest force not dependent on manpower and resources from the mother church, thus making a greater impact."
So grateful for the training were the attending men that our colleague received humbling expressions of their
gratitude. Ronnie wrote:
"On the last day a man put money in my hand. I refused it, but he would not take it back. Later on, I found that it
was a 50 rupee note. What's so significant about this is that it was given to me by one of the church planter's who is a laborer. He could really use this money more than me! I felt like Jesus after having the alabaster jar of perfume broken for his benefit. Later on, another brother came up to me and did the same thing. I want you to know this because these two incidents give me insight into the exceptional quality of men and women who have banded themselves around the vision to reach the unreached in their regions of India."
Praise the Lord for Ronnie who continues to co-labor with us as he conducts RUN's training half way around the world.

Forced to Flee, Still Pressing On
Ablet is a mature "You" believer with excellent English skills and a passion for radio broadcast evangelism who needs our help. He had to flee his homeland last spring and lives in asylum, with his young family, in a country where they never intended to land. Yet the Lord is using him significantly as he now works alongside missionary colleagues preparing audio broadcasts to reach his own ethnic group, millions of unreached "You" people living half a world away from him.
Grateful for the provision of a "safe place" and able to continue his ministry work, Ablet and his wife have found living in their new homeland challenging. They have no financial means so must live with a host family, in a remote place, where Ablet's wife struggles to communicate in a second language.
Regarded as a key man with a strategic ministry role, colleagues asked us to share this need with you and invite you to consider how you might be able to serve the Lord by supporting one of His choice servants. To find out more
about the need and how you can help, please email us at run@runministries.org.
