Dear Friend,

The impact on children in a war zone affects the poor more than any others. Conflict and violence destroy kids' lives, hearts, families, and friends. Ishmael, like all the other little boys and girls where he lived, were taken from their schools. Helplessly, they watched their houses burn to the ground. Everything is gone — even their toys.

Children's bicycles, playgrounds and parks are bombed out, and thousands of "War Zone Kids" can't find their parents or anyone else they know. Their lives have been ripped apart. This morning, a RUN team in the Middle East forwarded me a letter from Ishmael. He's only 11 years old, and his life will never be the same:

"I haven’t seen my parents since war came to our village. I was hurt badly and don’t remember what happened. When I came to, I found myself being badly hurt by jihadists, who told me, 'Forget you ever had a family!' Somehow, Jesus followers rescued me and some other kids. I thank Jesus for my new life. I have been learning how He suffered for us and forgave us of our sins. I want to be like Him! I thank Jesus for this new life. Every day, I’m learning about Him."

Children should NOT have to experience the horrors of war.
