GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR HINDU FAMILIES
Diwali - Oct 20, 2025

The Global Day of Prayer for Hindu Families is the last of the Four Global Days of Prayer to occur annually, uniting believers from across the world to intercede for the 110 Cities and for the over 1.2 billion Hindus who have yet to encounter Jesus, the Most High God. This prayer initiative coincides with Diwali, the “Festival of Lights,” a time when Hindus seek prosperity, spiritual renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness. It is a pivotal opportunity to pray for God’s light to break through the spiritual darkness of Hindu communities, as they seek truth and fulfillment during this meaningful season.
Why Pray for Hindu Families?
Spiritual Blindness: Nearly 95% of Hindus live in Asia, caught in the cycle of karma and dharma, striving for self-liberation through reincarnation. Hinduism, with over 330 million deities and millions of temples, promotes complex rituals and idol worship. Many are left uncertain about achieving moksha (release from rebirth). Jesus, who conquered the cycle of sin and death, offers freedom from fear and assurance of eternal life through His grace.
The Caste System: In India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, the caste system creates profound inequality, leaving millions of orphans, widows, and marginalized groups in crisis. Over 31 million orphans in India, nearly 4% of children, lack access to healthcare and education. Jesus, who proclaimed good news to the poor, offers dignity and justice to the oppressed.
Persecution in India: With over 1.2 billion Hindus, the rise of Hindu fundamentalism and religious intolerance under the BJP government has led to increased surveillance, harassment, and imprisonment of Jesus Followers. As Hindu nationalism grows, mounting pressure from the religious majority seeks to suppress the spread of the Gospel, with hundreds of workers from our partner networks currently imprisoned for their faith.
